About Imperial Restaurant
Located at 2100 S Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60616, Imperial Restaurant operates as a dim sum serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as chinese restaurant, seafood restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 9 amβ9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (312) 326-6888. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is imperialchinatown.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Its Google rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 1,339 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

I love the crispy shrimp rolls. The service feels rushed, considering the atmosphere. This is my personal experience comparing it to the 1st time I went there many years ago. I ordered and was charged for 2 orders of an apperizer and I only received 1. We were never offered water, I had to order it while ibsaw others get water right away and the only drink options was their tea, coke and sprite cans, no lemonade or anything toddler friendly to drink. I had to change my babys diaper on top of 2 storage bins that they have in the womens bathroom. The handicap bathroom was storage. And they asked if we were leaving the tip on the card or cash. In general for us this time, the food had a weird aftertaste and personally did not enjoy it. The only positive side is that if your lucky to get a window table, its a pretty nice view. There was a table avaliable by the window but we were not seated there.

Terrible experience. Service was very slow β we waited a long time just to get basic attention from staff. The food itself was underwhelming, nothing stood out. The restaurant smelled musky. To make things worse, we were charged for items we never ordered. Would not recommend.

Food was very good. I have known the owner/manager - Elaine for many years. She is very attentive and polite. While the lunch pricing is on the higher side - at $15 per dosh the quality of the food was outstanding. I am deducting one star because it took almost 30 minutes for the cooks to make a fried rice, and another 30 minutes for chow fun noodle. Those dishes should have come woth the rest of my dim sum and foods. Not after i finished my entire meal.
Everything is awesome 3 months ago
Authentic authentic authentic!!! I never see more than one table of tourists or caucasian persons in this space which is a GREAT sign! When the folks that the food originates from are eating there, you know it's going to be spot on. We were NOT disappointed. We were on a dim sum/ dumpling tour so we tried all of the dimsum they had for their lunch options along with fried rice and beef crepe and taro chicken ball. Everything was fantastic and affordable!! Cant wait to go back and try more.

I come here every time I visit Chinatown. The dim sum and Cantonese dishes are very authentic, with reasonable prices and classic Hong Kongβstyle serviceβwhich means not the friendliest, but it honestly reminds me of home π. The dim sum is freshly steamed, and the tea is spot-on. You can come here for a proper sit-down meal or just stop by for a casual snack. Prices are fair, though during rush hour you might be seated at a smaller table (Iβve never had to wait in line, though). You know itβs truly authentic when uncles and aunties are sitting around chatting and drinking tea, while servers push carts through the room with freshly made dishes.
